The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-09-29 AA "Glas im Bauwesen (Sp CEN/TC 129 und ISO/TC 160)" ("Glass in building (Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 129 and ISO/TC 160)") at DIN. This European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 129 "Glass in building", the secretariat of which is held by NBN. The responsible German Committee is Working Committee NA 005-09-29 AA "Flachglas-Produkte" ("Flat glass products"). This European Standard assigns sound insulation values to all transparent, translucent and opaque glass products, described in the European Standards for basic, special basic or processed glass products, when intended to be used in glazed assemblies in buildings, and which exhibit properties of acoustic protection, either as a prime intention or as a supplementary characteristic. In comparison with the 2002 edition, the standard has been completely technically and editorially revised as well as restructured. This concerns especially clause "Test methods" (now clause 5), and "Typical performance data" (now clause 7), which have been supplemented by a new clause 6 "Sound insulation rating and classification" (now clause 6). Three new tables regarding sound transmission loss for three different references have been included. Clause "Test methods" has been extended by statements about reference curves and extension rules.
