This Type C standard contains safety regulations. It contains the German version of Amendment A1:2000 to EN 12629-4:2001, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany), at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Working Committee NA 060-13-10 "Betonsteinmaschinen" ("Concrete block making machines") of Technical Section Construction equipment and building material machines of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of concrete block making machines, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations are involved in the preparation of the standard. This European Standard defines, in connection with the previously valid standard EN 12629-4:2001, relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This part of EN 12629, taken together with EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010, applies to concrete roof tile making machines. EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010 specifies general requirements applicable to machines for the manufacture of constructional products from concrete and calcium-silicate. This document describes the additional requirements to and/or the deviations from EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010 specific to the machines it covers. The tile making machine begins at the point where the moulds and/or the concrete are delivered to the fixed part of the machine and ends after the tile cutting process where the roof tiles on their moulds are delivered on to the outfeed conveyor (see Annexes A and B). Moulds and concrete may be delivered to and removed from the machine by hand. The preparation of the concrete mixture and the transport from the mixer to the machine are not covered by this standard. The equipment for the transport and handling of formed products are not covered by this standard. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to these machines, including the interfaces, when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see clause 4). This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards. This standard specifies safety requirements and/or methods of protection which apply to these machines. Within the framework of the adaptation to the new Machinery Directive, the following modifications have been made with respect to EN 12629-4:2001-06: - modification of the foreword; - modification of the introduction; - modification and update of the scope (clause 1); - update of the normative references (clause 2); - modification and update of clause 3 (Definitions); - modification of the significant hazards in clause 4; - modification of the safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 5 and update of the requirements for the propulsion unit and cutting unit and extrusion unit, and the press unit and its interfaces and the control panel; - update of the verification of safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 6; - amendment and update of the information for use in clause 7; - update of the warning in clause 8; - update of the marking in clause 9; - update of the first typical concrete tile manufacturing plant in Annex A; - update of the second typical concrete tile manufacturing plant in Annex B; - update of the informative Annex ZA about the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC; - update of the Bibliography.
