This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This European Standard covers all significant hazards as identified by risk assessment (see EN 1050), which are listed in clause 4 of this European Standard, relevant to centrifugal machines for processing edible oils and fats, when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. It specifies safety and hygiene requirements for the design, manufacture, use, maintenance and cleaning of centrifugal machines. The normal operating methods are described in 3.2. This standard does not apply to machines using solvent extraction and ancillary machines (such as conveyors, hoppers, and so on). It is not applicable to basket centrifuges. This standard contains the German version of EN 12505:2000+A1:2009 which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 153 "Machinery intended for use with foodstuffs and feed" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following changes have been made with respect to DIN EN 12505:2001-01: a) The standard has been brought in line with the revised EU Machinery Directive 98/37/EC (now 2006/42/EC); b) The normative references have been updated; c) "Information for use" has been updated; d) An informative Annex ZB on the relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been added. The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Committee NA 060-18-80 AA "Nahrungsmittelmaschinen" ("Food processing machinery") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the interested parties were involved in the preparation of this standard.
This document replaces DIN EN 12505:2001-01 .
