This standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for frictional anchors for use in mountaineering including climbing. Frictional anchors are devices capable of self-expansion, which can be placed in a parallel-sided crack in the rock, and which, due to friction between the device and the rock, can withstand a load. The standard deals in particular with aspects of (product) safety as well as test methods. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 112-04-05 AA "Bergsteigerausrüstung" ("Mountaineering equipment") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN EN 12276:1998-11 .
