Overview

This European Standard specifies the safety requirements and tests for playpens and folding playpens for domestic use, for children with a body weight of not more than 15 kg. If a playpen has several functions or can be converted into another function, it shall comply with the relevant standards. The European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 207 "Furniture", the secretariat of which is held by UNI (Italy). The responsible German Committee is NA 042-05-13 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 207/WG 2 Anforderungen an Kindermöbel" ("Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 207/WG 2 Requirements for children's and nursery furniture") of the Timber and Furniture Standards Committee (NHM). This European Standard contains safety requirements according to Gesetz über technische Arbeitsmittel und Verbraucherprodukte (Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz (GPSG)) ("Equipment and Product Safety Act (Technical Aids and Consumer Products)"). Playpens are subject to the Equipment and Product Safety Act (GPSG). Under the conditions set out in § 7, they may be identified with the GS mark which manufacturers have been awarded with by a GS certification body.
