This series of standards contains the technical delivery conditions for steel tubes for precision applications. Steel tubes for precision applications are used in the furniture industry, but mainly in mechanical and automotive engineering. They are used as shafts, axles, cylinders, injection pipes, pipes for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, cylinders, ring-shaped parts in mechanical engineering and so on. These standards not only contain the steels and delivery conditions, but are also dimensional standards with preferred dimensions, limiting dimensions and tolerances. They can therefore be used as a basis for ordering without the need for further standards. Parts 1 and 2 contain the seamless and welded cold-drawn tubes respectively, Parts 3 and 5 the welded dimensionally rolled tubes, with Part 5 dealing with square and rectangular cross-section tubes. Parts 4 and 6 include the cold drawn tubes for hydraulic and pneumatic applications. Since these tubes are used for pressure equipment of all stress levels, they are subject to the European Pressure Equipment Directive as harmonized standards. The concept of EN 10305-1 to -6 has been retained with the third edition compared to the previous edition of this standard. The standard has been revised primarily editorially with regard to the references and, for Parts 4 and 6, with regard to the requirements of the mechanical and vehicle engineering industry. The committee NA 021-00-09-09 UA "Präzisionsstahlrohre" ("Precision steel tubes") at DIN is responsible for this series of standards.
This document replaces DIN EN 10305-2:2010-05 .
