Electrical steel strip (sheet) differs from other steel products through its special magnetic properties, such as: magnetic polarization, specific hysteresis losses and permeability (magnetizability of the material). Depending on the orientation of the grains (crystallographic texture), these products are divided into non-grain-oriented (NO) and grain-oriented (GO) electrical steel strip (sheet). This European Standard applies to electrical steel strip and sheet in final annealed condition intended for the manufacture of magnetic circuits used at frequencies equal to or higher than 100 Hz. The responsible German standardization body is Joint Committee 07 "Elektroblech" ("Electrical steel") of DIN Standards Committee Iron and Steel (FES) and the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
