This European Standard defines relevant requirements of Annex I of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, for machines which were placed on the market in the EEA for the first time, in order to facilitate the verification of the conformity with these requirements. Once it is cited in the Official Journal of the European Communities, it is deemed a harmonized standard, and thus a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive covered by this standard (so called presumption of conformity). This European standard shall be used together with EN 1010-1:2004+A1. Both parts together deal with all significant hazards relevant to printing and varnishing machines, including pre-press machinery and auxiliary devices, when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. The specific requirements specified in EN 1010-2 take precedence over respective requirements in this standard. This standard contains the German version of EN 1010-2:2006+A1:2010 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 198 "Printing and paper machinery - Safety" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Working Committee NA 060-23-01 AA "Druck- und Papiermaschinen" ("Printing and paper machinery"), Technical Section "Printing and paper machinery" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and of the employer's liability insurance association Energie Textil Elektro Medienerzeugnisse were involved in the preparation of the standard.
