DIN EN 10028-1:2017-10, Flat products made of steels for pressure purposes – Part 1: General requirements.

About this standard

This standard specifies general technical delivery conditions for flat products for the construction of pressure equipment. It is the basic standard for the other six standards in the series, all of which have been revised and published in October 2017.

The changes

The standard has been comprehensively revised since the 2009 version. The main changes are:

• several technical requirements have been explained
• a new option for testing the resistance to hydrogen induced cracking has been included
• information on the types of inspection and inspection documents, and also on the selection and preparation of samples and test pieces, has been updated
• a new specification for using circular test pieces for the tensile test has been included
• in Clause 4, Table 1 “Product form and valid standards for tolerances on dimensions and shape” has been included;
• in Table 2, information on the tensile test at room temperature (mandatory) and perpendicular to the product surface (optional) has been revised; the references contained in the table have also been revised;
• in 10.2.2.3, the third option for the width of the test pieces for impact test of thickness between 6 mm and 12 mm has been deleted;
• the minimum thickness of the test pieces for impact test has been increased from “11 mm” to “12 mm” and the respective information has been updated
• normative references have been updated, a new definition for “normalizing” has been included, and some notes subsequent to definitions have been revised
• information in Annex ZA on the “Relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of EU Directive 2014/68/EU aimed to be covered” has been updated
