Junction inserts according to this standard belong to the so-called "HNA installation material", the standardization of which was started by the "Commercial Ship Standards Committee" in the 1920s. The junction inserts are installed in the sockets according to DIN 89262 and in the junction boxes according to DIN 89250. They consist of a base made of insulating material, on which four or two mantle terminals are fixed. The mantle terminals allow conductors to be "looped through". With the rotatably mounted pressure piece, flexible electrical conductors can also be reliably bonded. The "old" DIN 89300 from 1997 contains several invalid reference standards and obsolete material designations, which have been corrected. Some of the requirements and tests contained have been formulated more precisely. This standard has been prepared by NA 132-03-52 AA "Installationsmaterial" ("Installation material") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN 89300:1995-01 .
