Overview

DIN 86270-2 describes the function of a ballast water system in general and specifically describes ballast water systems with and without ballast water treatment installations (BWTI). This standard applies to the securing and compliance of the currently known guidelines which have been specified by the IMO (International Maritime Organization) or the Subcommittee MPEC (Maritime Environmental Protection Committee) for ballast water management (ballast water exchange in accordance with IMO BWM/CONF/36). In particular, the detection of parameters at the beginning and end of each ballast water operation is chronologically described - including the required documentation.
