The annual main inspection as well as the inspection of newly installed equipment on playgrounds should be carried out by competent persons. Based on incidents of damage and related case law, it could be established that there are considerable differences among the inspecting persons with regard to the existing expertise and qualification. In order to achieve the highest possible level of safety for playgrounds and playground equipment throughout their entire service life in Germany, it is therefore necessary to establish uniform requirements for the training and testing of playground inspectors. This document is intended to help ensure that playground inspectors achieve the expertise required for the inspections described in the scope of this document. The operators of playgrounds are hereby given the opportunity for the selection and commissioning of playground inspectors to demand appropriate proof of the required expertise. Furthermore, this document is intended to provide operators with assistance in fulfilling their special obligations in the context of safety management in connection with traffic safety obligations. This standard specifies the requirements for testing and verification to become a qualified playground inspector. This standard applies to the examination of persons who carry out the annual main inspection of playgrounds and playground equipment as well as the inspection after completion of a new playground according to DIN EN 1176-7 on the basis of the relevant parts of the DIN EN 1176 series of standards (except DIN EN 1176-10) and DIN 18034. This standard does not apply to the testing of persons performing visual or operational inspections according to DIN EN 1176-7. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 112-07-07 AA "Spielplatzprüfung" ("Playground inspection") at DIN Standards Committee Sports Equipment (NASport).
