This standard specifies the minimum safety requirements for hiking, trekking, walking and touring ski poles (hereinafter referred to as "poles") and the test methods. In Clause 5 this standard contains safety-related specifications within the meaning of the German Product Safety Act (ProdSG). Insofar as the standard has been determined by the Product Safety Committee and its reference has been published by the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the German Joint Ministerial Gazette, hiking, trekking, walking and touring ski poles manufactured in accordance with this standard are presumed to satisfy the relevant requirements for the safety and health of persons. DIN ISO 7331:2011-10, "Ski poles for alpine and touring skiing - Requirements and test methods (ISO 7331:2011)", has been used as the basis for this standard. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 112-03-01 AA "Ski- und Snowboardsportgeräte" ("Ski and snowboard sports equipment") at DIN Standards Committee Sports Equipment (NASport).
