Overview

This standard deals with constancy testing of characteristics of medical remote-controlled automatically-driven afterloading systems during the total service life. Test frequencies which shall be conformed to at minimum are given in order to be able to determine modifications to these characteristics in a timely manner. Some of the test methods in accordance with DIN EN 60601-2-17 are simple enough to be directly adopted as a constancy test method while other test methods can be replaced by more simple methods that only show the relative modifications to the characteristics but not their absolute characteristic values. Also included are test methods of data transfer from the radiation planning system to the afterloading system, as long as it is relevant for treatment in the context of system accuracy. The standard has been prepared by the Radiology Standards Committee NA 080-00-05 AA "Strahlentherapie" ("Radiotherapy").
