This standard species the characteristics of nuts, hexagon with MJ thread, captive washer and counterbore, self-locking, corrosion-resisting steel used together with screws and bolts of ≤ 1 100 MPa nominal tensile strength for temperatures up to 315 °C with surface treatment according to code D and those for temperatures up to 425 °C with surface treatment according to code U for aerospace applications. This standard has been prepared by the interested experts of NA 131-03-01 AA "Verbindungselemente" ("Aerospace fasteners") of the Aerospace Standards Committee (NL) at DIN, taking into account relevant resolutions (Building Block Documents) and standards of ISO/TC 20/SC 4 (Aircraft and space vehicles, aerospace fastener systems).
