This standard has been prepared by the Rolling Bearings and Plain Bearings Standards Committee, Working Committee NA 118-01-02 AA "Kugellager und Spannlager einschließlich Teile, allgemeines Wälzlagerzubehör und Gehäuse" ("Ball bearings and inside bearings, including parts, general rolling bearings accessories and housings"). This standard specifies dimensions and symbols for single row deep groove ball bearings. To satisfy practical needs of bearing users, this standard specifies deep groove ball bearings in sizes selected in accordance with the general dimension plan given in DIN 616. The following amendments have been made with respect to DIN 625-1:1989-04: a) standard has been completely revised; b) information on masses has been deleted from Table 1; c) the minimized types d = 1,5 mm, d = 2 mm and d = 2,5 mm have been completely deleted from Table 1; d) the minimized types d = 3 mm for D = 7 mm up to D = 8 mm have been deleted; e) the outside diameter of bearing type 6315 has been corrected from D = 180 mm to D = 160 mm; f) Table 1 has been extended to include types with seals up to d = 160 mm; g) type NR (with locating snap ring) up to d = 130 mm has been included; h) bearing series 618 in Table 1 has been extended from d = 600 mm to d = 1 500 mm; i) Table 2 has been deleted; this requirement is covered by the inclusion of dimensions d2/D2 in Table 1; j) in subclause 4.2, information on the mounted shield or seal has been included; k) service temperature ranges have been deleted; l) Annex A - General plan for radial contact ball bearings for mechanical engineering purposes - has been deleted; m) normative references have been updated.
