This standard specifies uniform dimensions for grinding lips for cup wheels to achieve interchangeability and to limit the variety of shapes. It applies to diamond impregnated grinding lips for cup wheels used in optics grinders. It is closely connected to the series of standards DIN 58741 on "Production in optical engineering - Diamond impregnated cup wheels" defining the corresponding cup wheel dimensions.
