This document applies to the safety requirements for manually or motor-driven serially manufactured projection screens according to DIN 19045-2. They are characterized by an optical projection onto a projection screen from the viewing side or from the side facing away from the viewer (rear projection). Screen walls with built-in electronic systems, such as LED screens, or screens where the projection does not take place onto a single-sheet screen (for example, inflatable screen walls, structures consisting of one or more solid bodies) are not covered by this document. The projection screens are used indoors for professional applications in event and production venues (theatres, cinemas, convention halls, as well as museums and churches and so on). For outdoor use, the corresponding conditions (for example, wind loads) shall be additionally taken into account in planning, design and execution. A distinction from machinery installations according to DIN 56950-1 is that the equipment described in this document is not intended to carry payloads outside the screen and any weighting profiles. Safety requirements are also listed for some types of projection screens that are not machines within the meaning of the Machinery Directive. This document also contains verifiable criteria for the tendering and testing of serially manufactured projection screens.
This document replaces DIN 19045-5:1984-01 .
