Overview

This standard contains safety requirements according to the Produktsicherheitsgesetz (ProdSG) ("German Product Safety Act"). This document applies for machinery installations in areas of congregation as well as in meeting locations and production sets for scenic presentations. Business premises of this type are, for example, theatres, multi-purpose and exhibition halls, film, television and broadcasting studios, stage and playing areas in the following structures: - concert halls, -schools, - exhibitions, - bars, - discotheques, - open air theatres, and - rooms for shows, events, cabarets, vaudevilles. In deviation from DIN 56950-1, it is taken into account that: - the lifting and lowering speed is limited to 200 mm/s maximum; - persons are not transported; - a rigid mechanical connection of the load carrying devices of several studio hoists is not allowed; - only asynchronous journeys of several studio hoists without selective shutdown are allowed as group journeys. Studio hoists are intended to hold lighting equipment (preferably luminaires) as well as other equipment and work equipment and their accessories in meeting locations and production sets and also to move them above people. Electrical connections for the work equipment and its supply line are usually carried along. DIN 56950, Entertainment technology - Machinery installations, consists of the following parts: Part 1: Safety requirements and inspections Part 2: Safety requirements for studio hoists Part 3: Safety requirements for stands and truss lifts of stands Part 4: Safety requirements for serially manufactured projection screens Part 5: Structural and safety requirements for chain-hoist systems (in preparation) Modifications The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 15560-45:1992-12 and DIN 15560-46:2008-10: a) studio hoists with counterbalancing construction elements have been deleted; b) Annex A "List of hazards" has been deleted; c) terms from DIN 15560-45 have been incorporated in this document and in DIN 56928 and have been revised; d) standards have been summarized to one part of the standard series DIN 56950 and have been editorially revised.
