Electro-deposition in practice often involves the direct introduction of surface-active substances into the ETL bath material that are used in upstream production processes; for example forming aids, anti-corrosion oils, chain lubricants. These surface-active substances can contaminate the ETL bath and lead to surface defects in the ETL layer and/or the subsequent layers. This part of DIN 55655 specifies a method for determination of the compatibility of electro-deposition coating materials with reference oil. The committee NA 002-00-07-09 AK "Automobilbeschichtungen" ("Automotive coatings") of NA 002-00-07 AA "Allgemeine Prüfverfahren für Beschichtungsstoffe und Beschichtungen" ("General test methods for coating materials and coatings") at DIN Standards Committee Coatings and Coating Materials (NAB) is responsible for this standard.
