Overview

This standard specifies a method for the determination of the water soluble hexavalent chromium content in pigments and extenders. Method A is a photometric method using 1,5-diphenylcarbazid and method B is a photometric method where the yellowing caused by hexavalent chromium is measured. Both methods are applicable as arbitration. Method B is applicable for a minimum content up to 0,000 5 % hexavalent chromium in pigments. Method A is also applicable to a lower hexavalent chromium content. This standard replaces DIN 53780:2006-05. The body responsible for this standard is NA 078-00-03 AA "Allgemeine Prüfverfahren für Farbmittel und Füllstoffe" ("General test methods for colorants and extenders") at DIN.
