This standard specifies the hot storage test for assessing the behaviour of a thermoplastic moulding when subjected to heat. The hot storage test on mouldings made of thermoplastic moulding materials can cause deformations and thereby give information on the suitability of the design from the material viewpoint and the proper processing of the moulding material. The test can also be used for assessing other changes, such as those affecting gloss and colour. It is used primarily for the routine control of production and for operational and acceptance testing. The method to be applied (method A or method B), the test conditions and the nature and extent of the permissible changes in the test specimens are to be defined in detail.
