Overview

This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-51 AA "Anforderungen an Schmieröle und sonstige Öle" ("Requirements for lubricating and other oils") of the Fachausschuss Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM) (Standardization Committee for petroleum, fuels, lubricants and related products (FAM)) of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) at DIN. This document specifies the minimum requirements for lubricating oils CLP. Lubricating oils CLP are predominantly recommended for circular and splash lubrication if increased requirements shall be met regarding wear protection in the mixed friction area. Lubricating oils CLP can also be used as hydraulic oils and general lubricating or machine oils. Lubricating oils are recommended if an increased wear protection is required for the friction points in the mixed friction area due to high load and/or if surface damage, such as seizures, is to be avoided at overload. In many cases, lubricating oils CLP are suitable for applications according to ISO 6743-6. When used as lubricants for machine tools, DIN 8659-2 shall also be taken into account.
