This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-08-15 AA "Grundlagen der analytischen Atomspektroskopie" ("Basic principles of analytical atomic spectroscopy") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP). Additional basic spectral analytical terms are contained in DIN 51009. Partially related techniques are covered in the DIN 51008 series of standards. Explanatory supplements to this standard are compiled in Supplement 1 to DIN 51401. This document specifies the terms and definitions of atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) and atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS), including all techniques such as flame atomic absorption spectrometry; electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry; hydride atomic absorption spectrometry; cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry.
