This standard provides guidelines for estimating the corrosion likelihood of components of installations inside buildings whose outer surfaces are designed not to be, or not continuously to be in contact with aqueous agents. Since it cannot be foreseen to what extent, over what time period and how often aqueous agents will be acting on the equipment, the likely corrosion behaviour can only be estimated. Such estimates, besides providing information on the type and extent of likely corrosion, also serve as a basis for deciding which protective measures may be taken and those which are absolutely necessary. This standard presumes knowledge of the information given in DIN 50929-1. This standard is intended to supplement DIN EN 12502, Parts 1 to 5. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-01-71 AA "Korrosion und Korrosionsschutz" ("Corrosion and corrosion protection") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
This document replaces DIN 50929-2:1985-09 .
