The electroplated zinc and zinc alloy coatings on iron or steel additionally applied with an organic coating, are applied with the aim of increased corrosion protection. Deep black or aluminium coloured technical surfaces are primarily produced by this method. The zinc alloy coatings contain nickel or iron (zinc/nickel, zinc/iron) as lead components. Due to their temperature resistance duplex systems are suitable for loads where temperatures of up to 180 °C can be present (for example, in engine departments of vehicles). This standard applies to galvanically precipitated zinc and zinc alloy coatings on iron or steel additionally applied with an organic coating. The standard applies for parts usually coated in drums, baskets, trays or on strips, but also by means of rack systems. This standard does not apply to sealings. This standard does not apply to fasteners with threads.
