Overview

This standard defines how the layer architecture of layer systems is described, which consist of at least two distinguishable layer films, with at least one of the functional layers being an amorphous carbon layer based on VDI 2840. The minimum information for the description of elements of a layer system is specified. Only the description of the structure of a layer system, that is the layer architecture, is specified and the purpose of the individual layers is indicated. Specific, especially tribological properties are not considered or required, but are generally described in Annex A. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-01-64 AA "Kohlenstoffschichten" ("Carbon-based films") at the DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
