This standard specifies safety signs used for the purpose of accident prevention, fire protection, protection from health hazards and escape routes. This standard is applicable for workplaces, public areas and for use on products when the marking aids the safety of persons. It is not applicable for the labelling of hazardous substances and preparations according to the Hazardous Substances Ordinance and for control of public traffic. This standard serves the uniform representation of safety signs. Design principles for safety signs are specified in DIN 4844-1. Design principles for graphical symbols for use in safety signs are specified in DIN ISO 3864-3. This standard applies in connection with DIN EN ISO 7010:2012-10. In addition to the International and European harmonized safety signs of DIN EN ISO 7010 this standard contains: - a selection of water safety signs from ISO 20712-1:2008 and - national safety signs that are not, or not yet, internationally standardized.
