DIN 45684-2 is used together with DIN 45684-1 to determine aircraft noise immission in the vicinity of existing or planned landing sites. This provides the basis for later assessment. In the two-part series of standards DIN 45684 itself, however, no assessment procedures are described or specifications are made for assessing aircraft noise immission at landing sites. The standard describes a measurement method for emissions for the determination of acoustic and flight operational parameters which can be included in the calculation method according to DIN 45684-1. These measurements can be necessary in special cases, for example if the flight operations of an aircraft group are dominated by individual aircraft types and this shall be considered separately. In such cases, the emission would not be adequately described by the aircraft group-specific acoustic parameters according to DIN 45684-1. During the measurements, the flight conditions for take-off, landing and horizontal flight are recorded independently. DIN 45684-2 only applies to ultra-light aircraft (air sports equipment), powered gliders and propeller aircraft with a maximum permitted take-off mass of up to 8 618 kg as well as for helicopters (rotary wing aircraft) with a maximum take-off mass of up to 10 000 kg. The standard has been prepared by Subcommittee NA 001-01-02-01 UA "Fluggeräusche" ("Aircraft noise") at Working Committee NA 001-01-02 AA "Geräuschimmission - Grundlagen, Ermittlung, Beurteilung" ("Noise immission - Principles, determination, rating") of NALS.
