Standards of the DIN EN 60728 series deal with cable networks including equipment and associated methods of measurement for headend reception, processing and distribution of television signals, sound signals and their associated data signals and for processing, interfacing and transmitting all kinds of signals for interactive services using all applicable transmission media. This standard supplements the above-mentioned series with mechanical requirements for system outlets. The system outlet supplies the terminal equipment with these signals via the plugged-in receiver lead. The system outlet can have several ports for receiver leads. This standard specifies the basic dimensions for system outlets with 2, 3 and 4 ports. With respect to DIN 45330:1974-04, the standard has been adapted to the state of the art, system outlets with 3 or 4 coaxial ports have been supplemented and requirements for the marking of the outlets have been added. The responsible committee is K 735 "Kabelnetze und Antennen für Fernsehsignale, Tonsignale und interaktive Dienste" ("Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
