This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 149-00-02 AA "Fotografische Geräte" ("Photographic equipment") of the Entertainment Technology, Photography and Cinematography Standards Committee (NVBF) at DIN. This document establishes the uniform presentation of sizes used for the identification of photographic lenses. It does not define any evaluation criteria for the different sizes, since these are dependent on the use case (for example, the resizing of the image). The procedures for determining the corresponding sizes are specified in DIN 4522-4, DIN 4522-5, DIN 4522-6, DIN ISO 9334, DIN ISO 9335, DIN 58186 and DIN ISO 9039. This document applies to photographic lenses on cameras for film formats up to 6 cm ((times)) 6 cm when used in the visible spectral range between 350 nm and 700 nm. For other formats or deviating spectral ranges it may be necessary to modify it accordingly. This document is part of the DIN 4522 series of standards "Photographic lenses", which consists of the following parts: - Part 3: "Exposure stop (e-stop)"; - Part 4: "Method for measuring the spectral transmittance"; - Part 5: "Their influence on colour rendition of colour films; terms, values for colour contribution index"; - Part 6: "Their influence on colour rendition of colour films; recommended values for colour contribution index"; - Part 7: "Characterization of the quality of photographic lenses" and - Part 11: "Inscription and preferred values".
This document replaces DIN 4522-7:1991-04 .
