This standard shall be applied - for the construction and alteration of structures the execution planning of which was started after this standard became effective; - for the design and execution of permanently installed workplaces and accesses and other equipment on roofs, at facade surfaces, window and glazed areas of structures used for maintenance and inspection; - on permanently installed equipment at facades for anchoring equipment for temporary workplaces used for maintenance (such as facade scaffolds, mast climbing work platforms). The generally accepted technical rules shall be met during this process. This standard does not apply to - workplaces and accesses that are accessible to the public (see also BGI 5164); - design and execution of workplaces and accesses required for the execution of chimney-sweep work (according to DIN 18160-5); - workplaces and accesses for maintenance and improvement work. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-11-71 AA "Sicherheitseinrichtungen zur Instandhaltung baulicher Anlagen (Absturzsicherung)" ("Safety devices for maintenance of structures (anti-drop devices)") at DIN.
