Overview

This standard deals with the weighted improvement of the sound reduction index ΔRw and the weighted impact sound reduction ΔLw of additional layers fixed to solid structural elements. Additional layers for the purposes of this standard are layers in which a cladding, over an insulating layer or a substructure is fixed to a solid structural element (wall, ceiling). They change the sound insulation of the solid base construction. If the additional layer is completely interrupted in the area of the partition, then the values of this standard may be used in the calculation of the flank sound reduction index according to DIN 4109-2. If the additional layer is also only continuous in part in the area of the partition, then the flank sound insulation index specified in DIN 4109-33 is used in the calculation of the flank sound insulation index for the calculation in DIN 4109-2. This standard is only valid in conjunction with the framework document DIN 4109-31.
