This standard defines a test procedure as the basis for verifying and evaluating the fire behavior of construction products and types of construction intended for use on the surfaces of space-enclosing exterior building walls. The test examines the exposure of the exterior wall cladding to flames coming from a wall opening. Fire exposure on the rear side ("burning through" of the space-enclosing wall) is excluded. Other fire scenarios may require additional investigations. The results of this test, in conjunction with the assessment of the building materials used and the exterior wall cladding system according to DIN 4102-1 or DIN EN 13501-1, serve as a supplementary basis for assessing the fire behavior of exterior wall cladding systems, including any necessary constructive fire protection measures. Non-combustible systems are excluded from the assessment. The aim of the test is to determine the contribution of the external wall cladding to the spread of fire on the facade. The test and assessment is carried out on the complete system, including any fire protection measures. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 005-52-01 AA "Brandverhalten von Baustoffen und Bauteilen - Baustoffe" ("Fire behaviour of building materials and building components - Building materials") of DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering (NABau).
