Overview

This describes the use of photometers for the evaluation of airborne particle of the respirable fraction. Information on the application limits of photometers are also given and possible applications in the field of work related hygiene are indicated. The standard has been prepared by Working Group NA 095-03-01-01 AK "Staub" ("Particulate matter") of Working Committee "Messstrategien und Anforderungen an Messverfahren" ("Measurement strategies and requirements for test methods") of the Safety Design Principles Standards Committee (NASG) at DIN and is based on the modified version of the German translation of Technical Report CEN/TR 16013-3:2012 prepared under participation of German experts of Technical Committee CEN/TC 137 "Assessment of workplace exposure to chemical and biological agents" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). Modifications to CEN/TR 16013-3:2012 have been in particular the addition of the light detection half angle in Figure 1 and the technical revision of Subclauses 5.4.2 and 5.4.3.
