A subdivision into individual components has been carried out in the new version of the standard for polygon profile P4C. Part 1 consists of information regarding the geometry of the profile, particularly the equations for NC-supported methods of manufacture. Part 2 provides the designer with documents for dimensioning of polygonal couplings. The classical calculation models given here should be replaced at a specified point in time by formulas that correspond with the most recent state-of-the-art. Importance has been attached to complete interchangeability of produced parts. The standard consists of the following parts: - Part 1: Generalities and geometry - Part 2: Calculation and dimensioning This standard is applicable for the dimensioning and calculation of the load carrying capacity as well as the manufacture of polygon couplings P4C. The scope of this standard covers technical products, for instance, of the general mechanical engineering industry, machine tool industry, vehicle and aircraft industry and the electronics industry. Polygon profile P4C (Letter C for cyclo in the designation) shall be preferably used when a longitudinal displacement under torque is required. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 32712:1979-03: Figure 1 and Figure A.1 have been incorporated; b) the standard has been divided into two parts; c) the standard has been revised editorially.
