The standard defines the technical and safety-relevant requirements for the long-term storage of digitally signed documents by ensuring the legal force of the digital signature. For this purpose the concrete functions of a generic system for preservation of evidence of cryptographically signed documents are described. DIN 31647 follows the OAIS model, in particular with regard to the information packages. The standard describes basic requirements for the information packages of a digital long-term archive in order to obtain the information necessary for the preservation of evidence of cryptographically signed documents. The document is the responsibility of NA 009-00-15 AA "Schriftgutverwaltung und Langzeiterfügbarkeit digitaler Informationsobjekte" ("Records management and long-term availability of digital information objects") in the DIN Standards Committee Information and Documentation (NABD). It has been prepared by the responsible working group NA 009-00-15-06 AK "Arbeitskreis Beweiserhaltung kryptographisch signierter Dokumente" ("Working group Retention of evidence of cryptographically signed documents").
