This standard is applicable to hose assemblies of types 1, 2 and 3 with hoses of silicone rubber for the conveyance of liquid or powdered materials in the pharmaceutical and biotechnical industry. It specifies classification, materials, manufacture, requirements and the testing of hose assemblies as well as their quality monitoring. The hose assemblies are intended for use with materials in the temperature range from -40 °C to +150 °C and for an operating pressure of -0,9 bar (vacuum) to 10 bar. These hose assemblies are not electrically conductive. The danger of static charge is to be considered on a case by case basis. The safe use of hose assemblies is also described in the information document of the Berufsgenossenschaft der chemischen Industrie (German Social Accident Insurance for the Chemical Industry) (BGI 572). Hose assemblies according to this standard are divided into designs A and B (see 3.2). The safe use of hose assemblies is also described in the information documents of the Berufsgenossenschaft der chemischen Industrie (German Social Accident Insurance for the Chemical Industry) (BGI 572). Hose assemblies according to this standard are divided into Design A and B (see 3.3). It should be noted that, for certain applications, the appropriate legal provisions, for instance the Wasserhaushaltsgesetz (WHG) (Water Resources Management Act), the Druckgeräterichtlinie (Pressure Equipment Directive) 97/23/EC (DGL) or the Arzneimittelgesetz (German Drug Law) are to be complied to. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 104-02-01 AA "Schlauchleitungen" ("Hose assemblies") of the Tank Installations Standards Committee (NA Tank).
