This document is applicable to the testing of surfaces that could be contaminated by radioactive materials. The quality of ease of decontamination is a surface property and an important selection criterion for materials that shall be cleaned of contaminations quickly and with as little damage as possible to the corresponding surface due to their area of applicability. This document specifies objective conditions for testing the ease of decontamination of surfaces under laboratory conditions. It is not intended to describe a general decontamination method or to evaluate the effectiveness of decontamination methods. The aim of the methods described here is the comparability of the results and therefore it is not necessary to completely eliminate the contamination. The wording of this document corresponds largely to ISO 8690:1988. The method described for testing and assessing the ease of decontamination is factually identical to the method described in ISO 8690:1988. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 062-07-63 AA "Radionuklidlaboratorien" ("Radionuclide laboratories") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN 25415-1:1988-08 .
