The standard applies to the illustration of flow sheets for plants and plant units for the above and underground preparation of hard coal and specifies the graphical symbols to be used. Flow sheets serve for illustrating preparation-plants in a precise and generally understandable manner. The standard specifies 3 types of flow sheets: basic flow sheet, equipment flow sheet and water flow diagram. The corresponding information content and the rules required for the drawings are specified. The standard contains the graphical symbols for material flows and pipelines, conveyors, stockpiles, containers and bunkers, dosing plants, plants for solid-liquid and solid-gas separation, comminution machines, equipment for mixing and coarsening as well as measuring equipment. Due to the fact that flow sheets and graphical symbols form a unit, the standards DIN 23011-2 and DIN 23011-3 have been combined. Current plants, such as movable-sieve jig, cyclon, flotation equipment, pneumatic flotation and spiral separator have been newly included. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-08-01 AA "Rohstoffuntersuchung/Steinkohlenaufbereitung" of the Mining Standards Committee (FABERG) at DIN.
This document replaces DIN 23011-2:1989-02 , DIN 23011-3:1992-10 .
