Overview

The stringent requirements imposed by the underground mining industry in its mining facilities for armoured face conveyors as a transport system for coal and rock acting as lumpy transported debris apply both for the chain but also, in particular, for the chain connectors. The additional requirement of detachability for connection of chain strands whilst maintaining functional external dimensions, hingeability and, to a large extent, maintenance of strengths and service time values requires a large amount of experience and engineering knowledge with respect to construction. In the mining industry, block type connectors in accordance with this standard serve for connection of round steel link chains in accordance with DIN 22252 and flat link chains in accordance with DIN 22255. In a chain strand they can only run vertically over chain wheels in accordance with DIN 22256, which is why the position of the block type connectors shall be considered during installation. The block type connectors shall not be used as load handling devices, slings or hoist mediums in the context of DIN 15003. The standard has been prepared by NA 008-05-05 AA "Einzelteile für Förderer" ("Components of conveyors") of FABERG.
