According to definition, a suspended monorail is a capture-track rail installation suspended from a track where the shape of the guide rail allows neither transversal nor vertical derailing of the vehicles (trolleys, etcetera). Suspended monorails are primarily used for the transportation of longwall equipment and for supplying mines with consumables. Considering the strong increase in transportation loads and travelling speeds, suspension of the monorail track based on "feeling" is no longer safe and even the experienced practitioner needs to be provided with decision support based on comprehensible calculations. This standard establishes general principles for the suspension and tensioning of monorail tracks in accordance with DIN 20593 for loco-driven suspended monorails (EHB) for underground mining with a maximum track slope of 20 gon. The standard has been prepared by NA 008-05-02 AA "Einschienenhängebahnen" ("Suspended monorails") of FABERG.
