DIN 20000-1:2013-08

The European Standard EN 13986 has been available as a harmonised European Standard since 7 April 2002 and has been adopted into the German body of standards as DIN EN 13986. From 1 April 2003 the products manufactured in accordance with this standard may thus receive CE marking and may correspondingly be traded freely within the field of application of the Construction Products Directive or the Construction Products Regulation. The provisions for use of these products remain however the responsibility of the member states. The conditions under which the construction products manufactured in accordance with DIN EN 13986 are traded and placed on the market are provided in the notification of DIN EN 13986 as a harmonised standard in the Federal Gazette and in the Construction Products List B Part 1 of the German Center of Competence in Civil Engineering (DIBt). In this instance particularly the technical rules for formaldehyde release and pentachlorophenol content as well as the specifications for use of timber materials treated with wood preservatives or fire retardants shall be noted. Consequently, the use of products may be regulated in Germany in accordance with the resolution of the NABau advisory council and in coordination with the Bauministerkonferenz (Conference of Construction Ministers) (ARGEBAU) through this application standard for DIN EN 13986. This standard supplements the design standard DIN EN 1995-1-1:2010-12 with the National Annex DIN EN 1995-1-1/NA. DIN 20000-1 has been prepared by NABau Working Committee 005-04-01 AA "Holzbau" ("Timber structures") in collaboration with the NHM Working Committee NA 042-02-15 AA "Holzwerkstoffe - Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 112 und ISO/TC 89" ("Wood-based panels - Mirror committee for CEN/TC 112 and ISO/TC 89"). The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN V 20000-1:2005-12: a) editorially adapted to the design rules for standards; b) specifications for the water vapour permeability have been revised and, consequently, Table 1 deleted; c) normative references to the withdrawn DIN 1052:2008-12 have been deleted; d) note regarding the values for cement-bonded particleboards of technical classes 1 and 2 in accordance with DIN EN 13986:2005-03 has been included; e) Table 4 from the 2004-01 version regarding conversion coefficients of the characteristic values when using the design principle of the permissible stresses has been deleted; f) bibliography has been included.
