This document is used for earthwork and foundation engineering. It refers to the determination of the density of solid particles which serves as an auxiliary quantity for the determination of the porosity of the water content by using the immersion weighing method or the air pycnometer, the determination of the shrinkage limit and particle size distribution of a soil sample by using the sedimentation analysis and for interpretation of the Proctor test. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-05-03 AA "Baugrund; Laborversuche (SpA zu CEN/TC 341/WG 6)" ("Soil, laboratory tests (Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 341/WG 6)") at DIN.
