This standard applies to thrown pipes made from filled, glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP) based on unsaturated polyester resins (UP resins) with dimensions in accordance with DIN 16869-1, which are designed for use with or without pressure for tensile strength and non-tensile designs. The pipes are classified according to stiffness classes to which nominal pressure ratings are assigned. They are mainly installed underground and stressed by internal pressure or operated without pressure. In the technical delivery conditions for certain areas of application, individual requirements can be eliminated or added. With respect to DIN 16869-2:1995-12, the following modifications have been made: scope supplemented, terms and definitions, general requirements as well as geometrical and mechanical characteristics have been adapted from DIN EN 1796 as well as the test methods have been adjusted to current International Standards. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 054-05-09 AA "Rohre und Rohrleitungsteile aus Reaktionsharzformstoffen" ("Plastics pipes of thermosetting materials") of the Standards Committee Plastics (FNK).
This document replaces DIN 16869-2:1995-12 .
