Overview

The standard provides recommendations for the application of the service segments specified in DIN EN 29735 (EDIFACT syntax, version 3). It can also be applied mutatis mutandis to the elements contained in EDIFACT syntax, version 4 and later (segments, data element groups and data elements), provided that the corresponding elements are applied in the same manner in version 4. The standard is intended for system analysts, programmers, and organizers involved in the implementation of the EDIFACT electronic data interchange format. It does not represent an introduction to EDIFACT, but presupposes knowledge of EDIFACT syntax and structures as well as in data processing. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 043-03-03 AA "Elektronisches Geschäftswesen" ("Electronic Business") at DIN Standards Committee Information Technology and selected IT Applications (NIA).
