Lines for fire-brigades are lines which have been manufactured for special purposes of the fire brigade. They are used by fire fighters for rescue of persons, for self-rescue and self-securing. They are also used for transporting and securing equipment. Lines for fire-brigades are not fall protection devices for the purposes of DIN EN 354. The 1999 version of the standard has been changed to delete the reference to a special accredited test body and to replace it by a general reference to accredited test bodies. With respect to DIN 14920:1999-02, no technical amendments have been made, other than the following: a) the terms "line for fire-brigades", "kink" and "roundstitch" have been added; b) the reference to a special accredited test body has been deleted for the type test and replaced by a general reference to accredited test bodies; c) the introductory sentence of the foreword has been adapted to the applicable Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz - GPSG (German Equipment and Product Safety Act); d) Formula (3) for the elastic elongation has been corrected; e) the contents of the standard have been editorially revised; this includes the deletion of DIN 50014 (withdrawn without replacement), DIN 51221-1, DIN EN 10002-2 and GUV 67.13; DIN EN ISO 1968, DIN EN ISO 7500-1, DIN EN ISO 7500-1 Supplement 1 and GUV-G 9102 have been added. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-04-03 AA "Persönliche Schutzausrüstung für die Feuerwehr - SpA zu CEN/TC 158/WG 3" ("Personal protective equipment for firefighters - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 158/WG 3") of DIN.
