Ceiling hooks for fire brigades serve for tearing down, pushing in and pulling out structural components and other objects. The ceiling hook consists of a hook and a continuously telescopable aluminium handle (telescopic handle). The telescopic handle can also be used as a device handle for other tools, and consists of an inner tube with a pivot pin for connection of the hook and an outer tube which can be adjusted for extension. The overall length of the hook including the pushed-together telescopic handle is 2 000 mm maximum for transport and can be extended to 3 000 mm minimum. By means of an optional extension, the overall length can be increased to 4 650 maximum, in order for it to be possible to carry out work on high ceilings. The amendment of the standard DIN 14851 for the ceiling hook had become necessary to increase the safety during the application of the ceiling hook and to prevent uncontrolled extending and retracting the telescopic component. The modification of the standard has been prepared after preliminary work of Working Group NA 031-04-09-05 AK "Einreißhaken - DIN 14851" ("Ceiling hooks - DIN 14851") at Working Committee NA 031-04-09 AA "Sonstige Ausrüstung - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 5" ("Other equipment - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 5") of the Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee (FNFW).
