The standard DIN 14800-18 (including its supplements) contains requirements for the composition of additional equipment loading sets which can be carried along as additional fire-fighting equipment on fire fighting vehicles. The supplements of this standard list the equipment which has proven particularly advantageous for special fire service operations. For selection of this equipment, reference was made to DIN standards as far as possible. For the procurement of fire-fighting and rescue service vehicles, additional equipment is very often agreed upon in addition to the mandatory standard load specified for the respective vehicle type standards. In order to facilitate and service-tactically unify the composition of possible additional loads for the users and the manufacturers and distributors, this standard (including supplements) centralizes appropriate additional equipment loading sets. During the compilation, all additional equipment loading sets of the existing fire-fighting and rescue service vehicle type standards have been adopted and updated and other appropriate additional equipment loading sets have been re-arranged. For future revisions of the respective fire-fighting and rescue service vehicle type standards, the table containing the additional equipment loading sets which might be included will be deleted and replaced by references to the respective additional equipment loading set of this standard. Deviations from this composition due to service-tactical requirements or exceedance of the remaining space and mass reserves shall be agreed upon when placing the order. Extra loading items need not be carried along if they are already contained in another loading set carried along, with the exception of a high simultaneous service probability. This document has been prepared after preliminary work by Working Group NA 031-04-06-06 AK "Beladungssätze" ("Loading sets") of Working Committee NA 031-04-06 AA "Allgemeine Anforderungen an Feuerwehrfahrzeuge - Löschfahrzeuge - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 3" ("General requirements for fire service vehicles - Fire fighting vehicles - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 3") at FNFW.
