This standard specifies requirements for two-pole connectors for transferring energy into and out of a vehicle. Furthermore, these two-pole connectors are used for energy transmission, charging of batteries or accumulators, energy extraction for the supply of working lights and technical devices with low voltages. This standard applies to fire fighting vehicles as well as all emergency vehicles of the authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS). The connectors according to DIN 14690-1 and DIN 14690-2 are to be replaced in the future by connectors according to DIN 14691. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-02-02 AA "Elektrische Betriebsmittel" ("Electrical equipment") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
This document replaces DIN 14690-1:1974-01 .
